Ryan W. Carroll, MD, MPH
Clinical Innovation Specialist, CAMTech, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Global Health
With a background in translational research investigating the pathophysiology of cerebral malaria, Dr. Carroll now serves as the Program Director for the Global Health Collaborative (GHC), an academic research and development organization that cultivates the relationship between Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)/Harvard Medical School and the Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Uganda. The GHC oversees 14 research projects, 10 departmental partnerships, multiple support mechanisms for both US- and Ugandan-medical trainees, and a robust safety and security program to help guide and protect over 200 visitors per year. When in the US, he attends in the MGH pediatric ICU, teaching fellows, residents, and medical students. To tie it all together, he serves as a Clinical Innovation Specialist for MGH’s Consortium for Affordable Medical Technologies (CAMTech), helping to foster the development of medical technologies targeting low resource settings.
